CNC Lathe Machine Operator Level I, II, III

We are currently seeking a CNC Lathe Machine Operator to join our Galesburg, IL. Team.  This position produces components by setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines, meeting Pegasus’s high safety and quality standards and maintaining equipment and supplies. A successful CNC lathe machinist is safety-focused, a problem solver and understands the importance of precision and quality.

Working Schedule:  Monday to Friday

 

Job Description:


We are searching for a candidate with:

 

  • Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Operator.
  • Prior experience operating CNC lathes, with a focus on maintaining close tolerances.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and micrometers.
  • Strong math skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to precision and accuracy in work.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with programming is a plus.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Operating CNC Lathe machines with precision to ensure quality production.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and micrometers to maintain exact tolerances.
  • Following safety policies and procedures, including the use of required PPE such as steel-toe shoes, ear plugs, and safety glasses.
  • Independently managing tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Programming with Mazatrol (a plus), while maintaining proper operation of the lathe.
  • Working in environments with varying temperatures based on the season.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety standards and accuracy in all processes.

CNC Manufacturing Engineer

We are currently seeking a CNC Manufacturing Engineer to join our Galesburg, IL. Team.  This position produces components by setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines, meeting Pegasus’s high safety and quality standards and maintaining equipment and supplies. A successful CNC machinist is safety-focused, a problem solver and understands the importance of precision and quality.

Job Description:

 

The CNC Engineer position is for a detail oriented individual who is experienced with new tooling/program prove-out for multi-axis lathes and mills. Perform setups and 1st piece inspections on 3-axis and 5-axis milling machines for part volumes 50 – 10,000. Perform setups and 1st piece inspections on multi-axis lathes for part volumes 1,000 – 20,000. Produce jig and fixture details utilizing manual machines and CNC conversational controlled machines in the tool room area.

NOTE** For a Setup Machinist well experienced with CNC production bar lathes, but WITHOUT strong G&M code programming experience, a separate position maybe available.

 

Job Qualifications:

 

  • 10+ years of CNC machine setup experience
  • Advanced knowledge of G & M codes, machine processes, and controllers, with the capability to program both online and offline
  • Working knowledge of machining equipment processes, tooling, work holding devices, clamping devices and material handling process is required to effectively communicate with customers and engineering staff
  • Focused knowledge and experience with multi-axis (3, 4, and 5 axis), high speed machining techniques and disciplines
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and in-depth knowledge of part prints and advanced skills in metal cutting principles

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for process improvements in a high precision CNC manufacturing Environment
  • Responsible for looking at existing machining processes and improving them
  • Will also be responsible for Continuous improvement projects including machine utilization, reducing scrap, and plant floor layout
  • Perform machine maintenance, calibration procedures and troubleshoot issues as they occur.

CNC Machine Operator Level I, II, III
