GAVC High School STEM Summer internship Initiative at Pegasus
Pegasus Manufacturing is proud to partner with the Galesburg Area Vocational Center (GAVC) to launch the STEM Summer Internship Initiative, providing local high school students with hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing, engineering, and technology.
Through this immersive program, students gain exposure to real-world CNC machining, 3D metal printing, robotics, and industrial automation—working alongside Pegasus engineers and technicians in a live production environment. The initiative aims to inspire the next generation of innovators by bridging classroom learning with cutting-edge industry applications.
From precision measurement and quality control to CAD/CAM programming and hybrid manufacturing systems, interns develop both technical and professional skills while contributing to meaningful projects that power aerospace, defense, and medical sectors.
This internship reflects Pegasus’s commitment to workforce development, community engagement, and future-ready education—empowering students to envision and build a career in modern manufacturing.

Pegasus manufacturing Awarded Manufacturer of the Year
On June 5th, 2025, Pegasus Manufacturing was honored as the 2025 Illinois Manufacturer of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration during the “Meet The Makers” Open House. The event showcased Pegasus’s innovation in aerospace, defense, and 3D metal printing, with live demonstrations, guided tours, and remarks from SBA District Director Willette LeGrant, who praised Pegasus as “the best of the best.” Co-founders Ray and Ruth Whitehead emphasized the company’s vision for advanced automation and future-ready manufacturing systems.
